This free card will permit the illegal population to legally apply for New York city services.

Enrollment sites will be set up across the five boroughs by the end of the month and additional volunteers have been assigned to help handle the heavy volume of applications.

This program is available to anyone who is at least 14 years old and can prove New York City residency without questioning them about their immigration status. This ID will be a primary identification for about 500,000 undocumented residents. Cardholders will now have access to financial institutions and city services and key to opening a bank account.

In a statement on Monday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that this card represents New Yorkers’ belief in equality opportunity and diversity.
